This weeks 7 photos were fun I got to experiment alot. I revisit an old favorite and also worked with cool water shots again. The ideas have been getting better and better, and I love and appreciate the fact that some of you really keep the "challenge" in my challenge. This weeks winners are:

Austin Wondolowski- Frozen ( Next time you reach for that Ben & Jerry's, take a closer look)

Angela Lewis- Things that look like faces but are not. ( I never understood this one fully until I saw this chimpanzee face that had appeared in the boardwalk. Always look for that beauty in life)

Today's winner is Tom Keegan with "Find a stranger, have them point to a word in the dictionary and put that word into a photo". Well I think this has been the most interesting one I have had so far. So much so that it might become a new project for me. It really gives you a chance to view things differently, and forces me to think on the spot. This word was pointed out by Sebastian. Today's winner is Tracy Fisher with "Rain". Tracy sends some great ideas and this one was perfect for a rainy night like tonight. The first one is of rain falling. The second is of one of my favorite views when it rains. It is the reflection of the street light on the street. It creates a dance of speckles and lights. I personally love a good rain storm. The smell of fresh rain that cleanses the streets and, like a hot shower in the morning, it awakens life So put the plants outside and take a deep breath next time you have a good rain storm. The water is suspended mid-air just long enough to capture. Between the lighting, timing, and splashing, this can be a very tricky shot. I woke this morning to a very distant sound of music playing, it was the very faint sound of Barry White. As I walked toward the sound I stepped on a pile of very small rose petals and smelled just a whiff of incense. And then it happened, I walked in on these two. This city is full of hustle and.....well you know, but every once and again you get a chance to take a deep breath, put on your headphones, and look at things you normally just pass right by. You can find natural art if you really look hard enough. In the fall the colors on the trees change so dramatically that you find yourself stopping to admire the spectrum of colors on one single leaf. I love the contrast of green and yellow in this shot of a lone oak leaf in the middle of a field. Thanks again to Ash.

New York is a melting pot of cultures and religions so it was no surprise to stumble upon the Greek pope visiting a church around the corner from where I live. It was a sea of black robes and long white beards. As I waited amongst several intimidating secret service men and NYPD for his holiness to appear, the tension was periodically broken up by the sounds of children singing hymns in his honor inside. There was a time in this busy god forgotten city when cab drivers spoke clearly and knew the city like the back of their hands. Today's winner is ................ well it's me with "Unseen Nature in NYC". Yes I made my own suggestion because I can. I love finding and recording things that most others never take the time to really examine and enjoy. In a city filled with so much speed, noise, and size it is easy to overlook the smallest of artwork. I myself would have overlooked this little friend if it wasn't for my big clunky boxer ,"Harlem", pointing it out to me. Just take the time and admire the littlest of creations. Thanks again to me.

Today's winner is Brian DePetris with " The Bronco Statue". This statue of a red eyed bronco is located near the Denver airport. As you leave the airport heading for Denver you quickly encounter this menacing thoroughbred. It really makes you think twice after knowing that this statue actually killed it's creator by falling on him before it could take its rightful place along the highway. This made for a very difficult shot as it had to be taken through the dirty bus window at about 70 miles an hour. Thanks again to Brian.

Today's winner is Alaina Nagel with "Needle in a haystack". This is what I like to call prohibition beach. It lies on the bank of the east river in NYC and it is like trip to another land. The glass of broken and forsaken bottles wash up on the shore causing a kaleidoscope of greens, browns, and clear glass and the sound is that of distant wind chimes. Needle in a haystack can take on many interpretations, but to me it is a where's Waldo situation, where everything looks very similar. Thanks again to Alaina.

Today's winner is Pam with "Life vs Death". Though this is a bit of a disturbing picture, it is a part of life. This little undeveloped dove was one of the many that were born across from our window on our neighbors air conditioner. Every year Ms. Dove comes to have her babies, 6-8 doves each year, but this year one didn't make it. Watching the process of life play out every summer never gets old, but unfortunately death is all part of that life cycle. So don't mourn his life, but celebrate the life he lived.

This seems to be a big interest for people and I wasn't sure why. But when you walk around this city you really see some very interesting characters. The weathered face and aged clothing show of a tough life. But if you really stop to get to know someone you may just realize the interesting and sometimes inspiring life could be. Today's winner is Pat Nolan with "City Nature Uninterrupted". I walk past this grate on my way to and from work and I have to say it gives me a little boost of hope every time. Just when you think you are beaten down and can't get through the tough times, you should step back and really take a look at the nature around you. We all have trials and tribulations, we are measured not by how hard we are beaten down, but how hard you fight back to survive. These vines are growing through solid concrete, up a wall, and out through a grate just to catch some precious sunlight and rain..........and maybe just to remind me keep growing. Today's winner is Sara Zeaman with "Snowman In The Summer". What a great idea. This is one of the best suggestions I have gotten yet because it really made me think. I mean how do you photograph a snowman on one of the hottest days in the summer. It was a scorching 95 degrees he day I took this shot so any chance at a "real" snowman would have lasted about 3 seconds. I had to come up with a new idea. How about a dancing singing Frosty the Snowman on his day off at the beach. However I do believe I will revisit this one again because I have more great ideas in my head. Today's winner is Meaghan with "Ruby's Bar and Grill". This is without a doubt the greatest dive bar in NYC, though I am sure others will debate me one that statement. Ruby's has been around since the beginning of time and is settled in on the boardwalk of Coney Island. This bar is a dying breed. A place where the bartenders can spin you a tale that will keep you entranced and and falling off the bar stool with laughter. It is a place where history cries out to be heard. It is a place where the bartenders have been for 63 years and have seen Coney in it's glory. But I advise you to go this summer, because it all changes next year when the old crew that made this place what it is, like Willie featured in this picture who has been there 35 years, leave and a new young crew takes over. So go, sit, drink you beer, eat your clams and enjoy true history at Ruby's Bar and Grill. Thanks again.

Today's winner is Ashley Goodwin with "NYC Skyline". This is an amazing view from the top of 30 Rock Plaza. The city always looks much more peaceful fro a distance. This is 69 stories above Central Park. I visited Rockefeller Plaza with my family and it couldn't have been a more beautiful day with mild weather and clear skies at sunset. At this height you see how bustling this city really is with the buildings so tightly packed and the red lights of the traffic in the distance, and yet the green of the park seems to dominate the city. Today's winner is Barett Washburne with "Something Discarded". I also agree that New York has the best garbage in the country and I dare anyone to defy that. I believe I will have to revisit this suggestion because I'm not completely sure this was discarded it was in an old empty building void of any residence. The erie lone light shone through the window illuminating this figurine. Day #24's winner is Jack Allor. That's right big daddio made the skin crawling suggestion of "Spiders". Thanks dad! It is very difficult to capture a clear shot when you are quivering like a girl. It was about one o'clock in the morning when I decided to capture images of the amazingly well fed spiders living around my parents house. Using my macro lens I was less than an inch away from most of my subjects and my father provided the lighting. This was without a doubt the most terrifying challenge yet to date. I faced my fear and earned a new found respect for such beautiful animals. However my skin is still crawling.

Day #23 and the winner is Brian DePetris with "A Tigers Game". Not too many people responded with Detroit ideas so I thank everyone who did. I attended a great game at the new home for the Detroit Tigers, Comerica Park. The game was a tight one as the Tigers won by one run. It was beer and peanuts and men screaming " Hot Dogs" with great passion and gusto. The true spirit of competition is addicting. Good game, good friends, and a great night.

Today's winner is Tracy Fisher on day #22 with "Detroit Graffiti". Tracy gave me some of the best Detroit ideas. I just wish I could have gotten to all of them. Don't worry though I still have little over 5 month's to get to the rest of them. I found this mural under Hart Plaza. I can't say it enough, if you haven't been to downtown Detroit in a while, go and experience a city that once was the heart of this country.

I had the great pleasure of capturing the memories that Adam and Tina shared on their most special of days. We fought the rain and a lost puppy but love prevailed, the skies cleared, and the puppy was returned to her home. I thank Tina and Adam for allowing me to share the beautiful day with them.

Day #20's winner is Bilal Mirza & Adam DePetris with " The Joe Louis Fist in Detroit MI". I have seen so many interpretations of this landmark monument deep in the heart of Detroit. It is an immediately recognizable piece of home to anyone from The D'. I hoped to capture this one in a new and different way, so as the steam poured from the manhole (as it commonly does) I found my shot. It has been awhile since i have really taken in the beauty of Detroit, and yes there is still beauty to be found in a troubled heart broken city.
