Day #93 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Tracy Fisher with "Feathers". In every zoo throughout this country you will find peacocks roaming freely on the grounds, seemingly the tour guides of the park. The patterns and colors on this bird make every shot unique, never seeing the same thing twice. A very overlooked animal, I urge you to take a closer look at the artwork of this animal next time your near one. Thanks Tracy.

Day #92 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Sara Dunivant with "Boredom". The life of an Ebony Langur is a rough one but you need to find time to............well...........do nothing. With no X-box or DVR these young primates have nothing to do but hang out. Thanks again to Sara.

Day #91 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Me once again with a very cool shot. I have been wanting to work on a shot like this for a while and I finally took the time to figure it out. The water is suspended mid-air just long enough to capture. Between the lighting, timing, and splashing, this can be a very tricky shot. If you look closely you can see the balloon on the bottom right corner. Thanks again to me for my great ideas.

Day #90 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Ashly with "Awkward moments". You can't get much more awkward than 'two flies humping'. I woke this morning to a very distant sound of music playing, it was the very faint sound of Barry White. As I walked toward the sound I stepped on a pile of very small rose petals and smelled just a whiff of incense. And then it happened, I walked in on these two. I mean really, at least hang a tiny little tie on the door. Thanks again to Ashly.

Day #89 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Pat Nolan with "Broken Things". Slow things down in life and you will see a different world. Even a glass ending up in pieces on the floor can find a visual appeal. This was something I've contemplated capturing for a while and took today to understand the logistics of this shot. I've opened up a new door of creativity and I promise to visit this one again. Thanks to Pat.

Day #88 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Ashly with "Fall leaves changing color". This city is full of hustle and.....well you know, but every once and again you get a chance to take a deep breath, put on your headphones, and look at things you normally just pass right by. You can find natural art if you really look hard enough. In the fall the colors on the trees change so dramatically that you find yourself stopping to admire the spectrum of colors on one single leaf. I love the contrast of green and yellow in this shot of a lone oak leaf in the middle of a field. Thanks again to Ash.

Day #87 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Dean Jackson with "A different view". I am always looking to improve my view. I look at the world through a photographers eye. It is a blessing and a curse. I wake in the morning and think "I wonder what 'this' would look like?" So that is where this idea came from, this is a very different view of Central Park in autum. Thanks again to Dean.

Day #86 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Adam DePetris with "Childhood joy in adults". Now I know we have visited the bubble guy before but he's back. This time an on looker from an obvious field trip decided to join in on the fun. As onlookers and friends watched, this young man remembered the joy of how amazing a simple bubble can be, and so did his friends from the look in their faces. Thanks again to Adam.

Day #85 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Laurence Muleh with "Bethesda Fountain in the rain". I racked my brain on how to capture this in a new and different view. I ended with the decision of before the storm and after. The angel before the storm reflects her blessing. After the rain begins the intensity of the storm is better understood when viewed up close. Thanks again to Mr. Muleh.

Day #84 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Tracy Fischer with "Music". As the sun sets the music rises in Central Park. This man was joyfully playing his sax like it was all he had left. The sounds of his melodies felt like he was playing to an audience of loves lost, yet there was no one around. True passion for his music filled this tunnel tonight. Thanks again to Tracy.

Day #83 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Pat Nolan once again with "Hassidic Jews in a modern setting". Well what could be more modern than the New York city subway. This unsuspecting model was willing and ready for this photo shoot and made a great subject. Thanks again to Pat, and this young bearded man.

Day #82 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Ahly's mom with "Park bench under a lamp post". This was found in Astoria Park. The old worn down bench and broken lamp post makes for a great black and white moment. This could be anywhere in the world at any time. Thanks again to Ash's mom.

Day #82 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Pam Zeaman with "Religion in life". New York is a melting pot of cultures and religions so it was no surprise to stumble upon the Greek pope visiting a church around the corner from where I live. It was a sea of black robes and long white beards. As I waited amongst several intimidating secret service men and NYPD for his holiness to appear, the tension was periodically broken up by the sounds of children singing hymns in his honor inside. Thanks again to Pam.
