Today's winner is Adam Depetris with........ well I will let you all decide. This turned out to be a very cool shot. It may not be what you think it is so look closely and let me know what you think this is. I will reveal the answer next Friday, so you have one week to let me know your guess. Good luck.

Day #51 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Ashly Goodwin with "Awkward Moments". I didn't notice how funny this one was until I got home and looked at it. This wasn't even my focus at the time it just happened. That is why I love photography, it captures moments in life that may otherwise never have existed. I call this one "What are you looking at old man! You pussy!" Thanks to you all. Thanks to NYC.

Day #50 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Patrick "Positivity" Nolan with "Pigeons". I don't have much to say about this one. I call this one "Are you talking to me?". Pigeons........... the stooges of NYC. Thanks Pat.

Day #49 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is ............... well a lot of you. This is without a doubt the most requested idea yet. Today's winner is "Homeless". This seems to be a big interest for people and I wasn't sure why. But when you walk around this city you really see some very interesting characters. The weathered face and aged clothing show of a tough life. But if you really stop to get to know someone you may just realize the interesting and sometimes inspiring life could be. So maybe next time think twice before passing judgment and passing by. Maybe stop and give a smile, say "hello". It might just brighten some ones day. Thanks again to all of you.

Day #48 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Adam DePetris with "Smoke". A very interesting and difficult thing to capture. While cleansing the room with a sage smudge stick I took time to admire the smoke close up. If you stop and look closely at smoke you will realize that it really looks like a beautiful ballet. It dances and drifts with every new wind. And then disappears like it was never there at all. Thanks again to Adam.

Day #47 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Meaghan Allor with "Milk Bones". This was any easy one due to the fact that I have two perfect models who will do whatever I say........... for the promise of a Milk bone or two. Harlem and Scuba waited with baited breath and dripping drool. But don't worry, after sitting patiently they both received their just rewards. Thanks again to the love of my life for a great suggestion. Keep those great ideas coming.

Day #46 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Pat Nolan with "City Nature Uninterrupted". I walk past this grate on my way to and from work and I have to say it gives me a little boost of hope every time. Just when you think you are beaten down and can't get through the tough times, you should step back and really take a look at the nature around you. We all have trials and tribulations, we are measured not by how hard we are beaten down, but how hard you fight back to survive. These vines are growing through solid concrete, up a wall, and out through a grate just to catch some precious sunlight and rain..........and maybe just to remind me keep growing. So thanks again to Pat for reminding me to appreciate the nature around me.

Day #45 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Jeff Cachero with "Edible 81". I love to cook and I love to take food shots. Food is natures oil paintings. The colors and textures of different food is so eye catching that you can almost smell the aroma of basil. You can taste the crisp cucumber and ripe tomatoes. And who would have ever thought that the beginnings of a salad could could answer the eternal question "What is 41 plus 40?" Thanks again to Jeff.

Day #44 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Shelby Rodriguez with "Giraffe". This really is a beautiful animal in every way. I have always found them to be so peaceful to watch. Slow fluid movements and calm zen attitudes make the giraffe always seem to be in control of their surroundings. The yogi's of the animal kingdom. Thanks to Shelby and her fruit stripe pants. Thank you to all of you.

Day #43 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Barrett Washburn with "Recession Special". Barrett has some great suggestions so far and as with his other ideas (discarded treasure,Day #27) I think this one might be revisited. But how can you beat Taquitos for only one dollar.........times are rough! Thanks again to you all for joining me in this very fun journey.

Day #42 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winners are Meaghan & Patty with "Fire Escapes". We are in no shortage of fire escapes in this city. Some become gardens, some are life savers, but for me they become a piece of art. At sunset, this rickety old scrap of metal silhouettes the orange sky like a scene from a movie. Thanks again to all of you. Check out all of my challenges and make your suggestions.

Day #41 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Pat Nolan with "Food and Beverage Carts". We all know the best cart in town. It may be Halal meat on a stick, or that amazing Mexican cart with recipes passed on from one generation to the next, we all know where to go. The cooks get to know you and know if you want lemon and BBQ or just that really good white sauce they put on top of your meal-to-go. No matter what time of day in this never ending city, you can find the best food in the most overlooked portable restaurants. Thanks again to Patty. I love this new wave of ideas. You have all been really thinking hard on these ideas and are really challenging me. Thank you.

Day #40 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Amanda Veraldi with "Dessert". I only hope that these photos spark your senses enough to make you remember the smell of walking past that amazing bakery that we all pass early in the morning on our way to work, or on your way home after a long night. Maybe it's that sense memory of mom making a treat for after dinner, or just a simple guilty pleasure. Whatever it is they attack you with the bright colors and cute mouse shaped mousse cake, its that sweet smell of baked goods and sweets, that just draw you in. The choice is ours to resist or not. Thanks to Amanda for the suggestion of that devilish "Dessert". Keep those gret ideas coming.

Day #39 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Kathleen DePetris with "Sidewalk Chalk" I had grand ideas with this one and worked on it all day but I really wasn't happy with my work so I went out and tried again only to find a hard core game of hopscotch in progress. Young angry kids fight it out to become the street hopscotch champion. Throw a stone and begin the hop. I risked life and limb to photograph this dark world but I think its always worth it for the shot. Thanks again to Mrs. DePetris for the challenge. Keep those great ideas coming.

Day #38 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Patrick Nolan with "Produce". The one thing that is everywhere in New York is fresh produce. From the Farmer's Market in Union Square, which supports local farming, to the corner market that is always bustling with with culture. Filled with produce of all colors shapes and flavors. The shades and textures can make ordinary food look like a work of art. Thanks again to Pat for this, and the other 30 or so, suggestions. Positivity!!!!

Day #37 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Tracy Fisher with "Ice". I love ideas like this because it really allows me to show things in a different light. I firmly believe everyone needs to look at normal everyday objects in a new and creative way. Pull out a magnifying glass and look at things close up. Life can be very interesting if you look at the world from a bugs point of view. It can even make simple ice look like a crystal chandelier. Thanks again to Tracy and all of you for your great ideas. Keep em coming.

Day #36 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Sara Zeaman with "Snowman In The Summer". What a great idea. This is one of the best suggestions I have gotten yet because it really made me think. I mean how do you photograph a snowman on one of the hottest days in the summer. It was a scorching 95 degrees he day I took this shot so any chance at a "real" snowman would have lasted about 3 seconds. I had to come up with a new idea. How about a dancing singing Frosty the Snowman on his day off at the beach. However I do believe I will revisit this one again because I have more great ideas in my head. So keep an eye out for this one again and thank you to Sara and everyone else for the great suggestions. Keep em coming.

Day #35 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Meaghan with "Ruby's Bar and Grill". This is without a doubt the greatest dive bar in NYC, though I am sure others will debate me one that statement. Ruby's has been around since the beginning of time and is settled in on the boardwalk of Coney Island. This bar is a dying breed. A place where the bartenders can spin you a tale that will keep you entranced and and falling off the bar stool with laughter. It is a place where history cries out to be heard. It is a place where the bartenders have been for 63 years and have seen Coney in it's glory. But I advise you to go this summer, because it all changes next year when the old crew that made this place what it is, like Willie featured in this picture who has been there 35 years, leave and a new young crew takes over. So go, sit, drink you beer, eat your clams and enjoy true history at Ruby's Bar and Grill. Thanks again.

Day #34 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Ashley Goodwin with "NYC Skyline". This is an amazing view from the top of 30 Rock Plaza. The city always looks much more peaceful fro a distance. This is 69 stories above Central Park. I visited Rockefeller Plaza with my family and it couldn't have been a more beautiful day with mild weather and clear skies at sunset. At this height you see how bustling this city really is with the buildings so tightly packed and the red lights of the traffic in the distance, and yet the green of the park seems to dominate the city. Thanks again to Ash and everyone else for their suggestions. You have all stepped it up for month #2 and I thank you for that. I can't wait to get to all of your great ideas.

Day #33 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is once again Angela Lewis with "Insects with more than 6 legs". I found this little caterpillar crawling along the blacktop and couldn't resist getting some close-ups. I am sure he has a lot more than 6 legs. I love macro photography like this because you really get to see the beauty of an animal that you never take the chance to see this close. So the next time you see something so small, take time to admire it up close and personal. Thanks again.

Day #30th-32nd Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winners are three in one. Due to camera difficulties I didn't think I was gonna be able to get any shots for these three days, until a very smart man reminded me that my phone does have a camera. So with that i decided to see where my talent takes me. I believe there are a lot of photographers out there and a lot of tools to make someone look more talented than they really are. A true photographer has a true eye to capture life with even the simplest of equipment.

So with that rant over with I give you the three winners.

Day #30 Angela Lewis with " Garbage Trucks".

Day# 31 Pam Allor with "Religion".

Day #32 Meaghan with " Water Towers".
Thanks again to all of you and please keep the great suggestions coming.

Day #29 Winner of the 6 Month Challenge

Today's winner is Angela Lewis with "Things that look like faces but are not". This was a new venture into creative lighting for me. These shots were taken 'as is' no photoshopping (other than a little cropping). One flashlight, one camera, cool effect. Thanks again to Angela. Please don't forget to send me those great ideas. And thanks again.

Today's winner is my beautiful and smart wife with " Turd/Mr. Puddles". For those who do not know, Turd and Mr.P are the two gerbils residing in our home. Turd is black as night and Mr. P is the earth tone one. Quite a couple of characters they are our dogs favorite T.V. to watch. And if you need someone to dispose of your paper towel roll..............they are your number one gerbils. Thanks again to Meaghan and all of you. Please keep those ideas coming.
